Frank Thomas Libby MM. London Regiment d. Artists' Rifles, he died of wounds on the 19th of April , received at Mailly-Maillet on 2nd of April. He is buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery in France. The Military Medal was awarded for conspicuous Bravery at Passchendaele, on the 20th of September Stephen Hugh Densham 5th Btn. He was aged 21 and and is buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery in France. He was the son of Mr. John Lane Densham. Native of Croydon, Surrey. Frank Benjamin Tolhurst 5th Btn.
She adored him. He gave her his bike before he went away to war. He was 27 years old when he died on 7th of November Jill Elbourn Add to this record. Sean McPartlin Add to this record. He died of his wounds on 24th of June aged 18 years and is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Caroline Hunt Add to this record. He was killed in action between 6th and 10th September aged 24 years on the Somme.

Never Forgotten Geoff Huntington Add to this record. He was a music hall artiste and married a music hall artiste Daisy May Worsley in Glasgow. He had spent some time in Buenos Aires as a Music Hall artiste, from to He was listed as missing presumed killed in September , his place of birth on the Commonwealth Graves site is noted as Granbourne, Scotland when it should be Grantown.
He is remembered on the Menin Gate. Robert Archibald Brown 5th Btn. London Regiment My grandfather Robert Brown was wounded on 10th of September , his leg was amputated and he was discharged on 3rd of March Lilian Brown Mullane Add to this record. John H. All were killed on 1 July a short walk from where they are buried in the Gommecourt British Cemetery No. The Battalion moved to Exeter on 17 November , to Dawlish on 8 December , Aisne Barracks at Blackdown on 23 April where it was still stationed when the Armistice came into effect on 11 November Demobilization quickly reduced the strength of the Battalion and what remained of the unit was moved to Shoreham in February The Battalion was disbanded in April Both sites offer a free trial and you can usually view them for free at your local library if you live in Britain.

To download the war diary for a small fee click on the blue link below. Not only is the book packed full of useful information, including many trench maps it is readable. The book does cover the period between and July but the bulk of the pages concern the First World War. There are a variety of appendices including a nominal roll of officers with a brief account of their service history and the operation orders for the attack at Gommecourt on 1 July The Battalion went into the front line with a strength of 23 officers and other ranks and suffered 19 officer and other rank casualties by the end of the 1 July.
